Season 2 - 2025
Mike Gabbastone and the Fifteenth Doctor
fromMike: Look, that's 100,000 people. Frozen and suspended in space. To reach them, and catch them, and revive every single one of them... You'd need to be some sort of insane genius.
The Doctor. Hello. I'm the Doctor.
Synopsis
2925: The Doctor and Belinda arrive in the Harmony Arena space station where the Doctor sets up his vindicator whilst Belinda notices Rylan Clark, who has been defrosted from cryogenic suspension, is hosting the 803rd Interstellar Song Contest, which is sponsored by PoppyHoney.
The Doctor and Belinda decide to stay for the contest, observed by one of the audience members - Mrs Flood, and by the two people whose seats they have taken - Gary and Mike who arrived late. Mike shows his ticket to one of the drones and asks it to remove the Doctor and Belinda, but it simply replies "Phase one activated".
In the gallery the staff running the song contest are won interrupted when a Hellion, Kid, bursts in announcing he is phase one where he immediately takes control of the all the drones and takes control of the galley. The drones remove all the staff apart from his partner, Wynn, and the person in charge, Nina. The song contest is being transmitted live until Wynn switches over to footage from the dress rehearsal.
In the stalls the Doctor is alerted that the live broadcast has stopped and access the internal systems to try to find out what is happening. No-one else notices anything is wrong - until Kid de-activates the safety systems and opens the roof, jettisoning the audience into space. Belinda gets caught by the stall's roof as the Doctor, along with the TARDIS, is also sucked out into space where he, along with everyone else, freezes. Wynn closes Belinda's stall leaving Belinda safe, but alone.
With phase two complete Kid moves to the final phase and reveals a delta wave device. When connected the device starts to overwrite software controlling the station, ready to broadcast during song number 14.
Belinda finds her way into the space station where she finds two survivors, singer Cora and a tech, Len. Belinda asks if the can call for help but Cora explains that due to gambling rules the space station is on closedown to prevent cheating meaning all communications are blocked.
In the gallery Nina tries to plead with Wynn, who saved Belinda, but Wynn says she is doing all this for her homeworld - Hellia.
Freezing in space the Doctor sees a vision of his granddaughter - Susan. This spurs him on to fight and, using a confetti cannon, makes his way back to the space station where an airlock is opened by Gary and Mike. Once recovered the Doctor tells them all the people outside are not dead but held in a mavity (gravity) suspension field that he had strengthened just before he was jettisoned.
Using the sonic screwdriver the Doctor access the computer and sees the software being overwritten by Hellion script. The Doctor asks about the Hellions and Mike tells briefly tells him about the planet Hellia and how the fields of Hell Poppies have all been ruined and destroyed. The Doctor accidentally activates the delta wave, and has to use the sonic screwdriver to stop it. Over three trillion people are watching the song contest, and if the signal is transmitted from the space station if would kill them all.
The Doctor, Mike, and Gary, move into another section of the station. Gary worked for the song contest and is able to access some of the systems, including a hologram of Graham Norton. On a screen Kid appears from the gallery once he notices someone else is in the system. The Doctor tells to stop, and that he is prepared to cast him out into the void and watch him freeze. In the gallery Kid orders the drones to the museum, where the Doctor is located.
Belinda, Cora, and Len, saw the Doctor and Kid on a screen. Cora was unsettled and when asked by Belinda she reveals she is a Helion who cut of her own horns and left so she could sing. She knows Kid, knows he blames the Corporation that created PoppyHoney for invading their planet for honey flavouring and for destroying all the poppy fields, and knows he is out for revenge against the Corporation, and also every single viewer.
Both the Doctor, with Gary and Mike's help, and Belinda, with Cora and Len's help, head to the gallery where the delta wave device is almost ready as on the screen the rehearsal being broadcast reaches song number 14 - Cora's song. In the gallery the Doctor distracts Kid with a hologram before using the sonic screwdriver to destroy the device and disarm Kid. The Doctor tells Kid he has converted the hologram to hard light before using the hologram to torture Kid. Even visions of his granddaughter urging him to stop have no effect. Only being reunited with Belinda stops the torture. In the distraction Nina is able to regain control and orders drones to take Kid, and Wynn, into custody.
Utilising the skills of Gary, Mike, and Len, people are tractor beamed from outside, using hard light hologram, and returned to the station where they are revived. After the majority are returned the Doctor takes Belinda to the museum area where the TARDIS has been found. They meet the hologram of Graham Norton that tells them the Earth disintegrated on 24th May 2025.
As the Doctor and Belinda head back to Earth the last person is revived by Gary and Mick: Mrs Flood. To aid her recovery she has a trick: regeneration. Only she doesn't only regenerate, she bi-generates, and the new person tells them her name: the Rani.
