Sil, a Mentor from the planet Thoros Beta, is obsessed with making money. When the sixth Doctor and Peri first encountered Sil he was the representative for the Galatron Mining Corporation on Varos, trying to force the lowest price possible for the Zyton-7 ore.
The sixth Doctor and Peri later met Sil on the planet of Thoros Beta where the Sil, along with the other Mentors, were attempting to save the life of the dying Kiv (more out of concern for profit than compassion).
